Above ground overlap liners are pulled over the wall and then rolled up or trimmed to fit on the exterior side of the pool wall. This liner style will normally have a round or flat plastic coping (called "Horseshoe" or "liner lock" coping) that snaps over top of the liner to keep it in place. Above ground overlap liners are the most prevalent and also the least expensive type of liner available.

The best type of above ground beaded liner is the Multi-bead liners  This new Bead is an all in one bead including a U/Jhook as well as "standard" or "snap" Bead. You no longer need to worry what you have on your pool because when this liner shows up it can be installed in a bead retainer coping or just hook on the top of your pool wall. Beaded liners also provide a clean, finished look for your pool.

Standard Beaded Pool Liners

Once the most popular type of above ground beaded liner was known as the "Standard" or "Snap" Bead, which snaps into a coping that is fastened over the pool wall - this coping is called Bead retainer.  This application is ideal for customers building decks around their pool, as they will not be able to dismantle the pool to change the liner. 

The U / J style of above ground liner fits directly over the top of the pool wall's edge (like an upside down letter "U" or "J"). Many of the U / J style pool liners we have in stock are comprised of a universal beading, that will work for pools with either standard bead applications or U / J bead applications (universal beaded liners are also known as "Unibead" or "Easy Bead" liners).

Our in stock above ground liners are made from 100% virgin vinyl material with an industry standard 20 Gauge (13.5mil) vinyl thickness. These vinyl above ground liners are produced in North America and offer a 25 year pro-rated manufacturers warranty on seam separations

As a manufacture of Inground, Semi-inground, Kayak like, Onground, Hot Tub, Cistern and Above Ground swimming pool liners we produce all kinds of different quality liners.  The vinyl is either reproduced vinyl or virgin vinyl.  When you are looking at the backside of your liner and it is all blue in most cases it is made with repro.  This is not a bad thing and great for the environment.  Virgin Vinyl is normally on white back ground.  If the background is white you can be assured that you have virgin vinyl.  The tricky part of choosing a liner is knowing how thick the vinyl is.  We have given a chart that will help you understand what thickness you are buying. Typically In Ground liners in Canada are 28.5 mil embossed to 30 mil and in the United States the Swimming Pool Liner is 20 mil.  Above Ground liners range from 12mil- 18.5mil.  

Gauge vs Mil in Above Ground Liners

When a store is using the word "20 gauge" these liners are typically 13.5mil.  "25gauge" the liners are 16mil.  Gauge has no measuring property so any mil thickness can be in the box.

What is aqua finish?

Aqua finish protection is added to all CGT pool liner material. Aqua finish adds protection against pool chemicals and acts as a UV shield.

How are custom liners made?

7-11 Pools uses computer aided design (CAD) to custom design each pool liner to the exact specifications of your pool. We then use a patented rotary cutting machine to cut the vinyl for each swimming pool.

Will my liner pattern fade?

Yes, but not for many years. Its obvious that all swimming pools need to treated with chemicals. For the most part, if you make sure to keep the pool water balanced you should not have to many surface issues until later down the road. When you do get later on down the road, as with wrinkling, it is inevitable that you will start to notice that your liner will begin to fade or bleach out.” This is typically due to the fact that the chemicals have taken its toll on the printed pattern on the liner. 

Prevention: Watch the the balance of the pool water. It is probably the number one most important thing about a vinyl liner.

When is the best time to install my pool liner?

The best conditions for vinyl pool liner is installation are as follows:

• Sunny day.
• Moderate temperatures of between 70F/20C 85F/30C.

The sunlight and the air temperature help the vinyl to shape easily to the pool bottom.

What is the difference between gauge and mil?

They are both references to the thickness of the vinyl material use in manufacturing a pool liner:

Gauge is a ‘nominal’ measure with no technical definition or meaning and can be a misleading reference as to the vinyl material thickness of a pool liner.

Mil means thousands (000’s) of an inch and is a very accurate measure of the thickness of the vinyl material thickness of a pool liner.

What is liner bead track or bead receiver?

  The slot in the pool coping where the liner bead is inserted to hold the vinyl pool liner in place around the perimeter of the pool. 

 What is a Liner Pad, Wall Foam and Pool Cove for? 

Liner pad provides an important protective and vapor barrier between a vinyl swimming pool liner and the sand base to provide additional protection for the liner.

Wall Foam protects your liner from any rust or corrosion that may have developed on the pool wall itself.  It also serves as insulation and will improve your pools heat retention.

Pool Cove helps eliminate stretching, pulling and tearing at the base of the line wall as the liner transitions from the vertical wall to the horizontal pool floor.  Pool Cove is  easier to use than trying to mold your sand.

What is UNI-BEAD?

 Uni-Bead is a specialty bead designed to accommodate both ‘Standard Bead’ and ‘J-Bead’ applications.   Uni-Bead can be used ‘as is’ for J-Bead aboveground liner applications.  It can also be ‘field modified’ to accommodate Standard Bead above ground liner applications by removing the top J-Bead portion of the bead head entirely before installation.  This is done by ‘tearing’ the bead along a score mark, a continuous perforation in the bead, to remove the J-Bead portion of the bead.  This will leave only the standard bead portion of the bead, making the liner ready for installation in that application.  

What is an ‘overlap’ liner? 

‘Overlap’ refers to the method that the pool liner ‘attaches’ around the perimeter of the pool at the top of the pool wall.  In the case of an ‘overlap’ liner, there is excess material provided in the height of the liner wall to be folded over the pool wall at which time a snap on coping is applied to hold the liner in place.  

 What is a ‘beaded liner’? 

  ‘Beaded’ refers to the method that the pool liner ‘attaches’ around the perimeter of the pool at the top of the pool wall.  In the case of a ‘beaded’ liner, there is a small flexible PVC extrusion welded to the top of  the liner wall which is inserted into a rigid PVC ‘bead receiver’ to hold the liner in place.  

Are vinyl liners cost friendly?

Vinyl liner pools are super budget-friendly. Most cost at $10,000 less than fiberglass or concrete pools.

Are vinyl liners customizable?

The vast majority of vinyl liner pools are rectangular, but you can definitely customize the shape, size, and depth of the pool.

Custom shapes cost more, but still typically less than a similar fiberglass or concrete pool.

Is vinyl better than concrete?

 A vinyl liner is smooth other than the slight ridge where one piece of material meets another. Compare this to a concrete pool, which is rough enough to scrape your skin unless you pay big money for an all-tile or polished interior finish. 

What is the difference between this pool above ground compared to ones I can get at Walmart?

Walmart sells soft-sided pools.  Soft-sided pools, such as Intex pools, are made of a single piece of material that serves as both liner and pool walls.  Hard-sided above ground pools use liners and have steel walls. They offer some support to the liner, so the vinyl doesn’t need to be quite as heavy duty as it is for a soft-sided pool. 

Tips on measuring my liner?

 All you need to determine which size liner your pool requires is a tape measure and something to write down your measurements. Because pool walls can warp and shift, take each measurement twice.

To get the height of any shape above ground pool, measure from the bottom rail to the top. Remove any obstacles from the ground to ensure an accurate measurement.

Check your result by measuring the height on a second section of wall. If the figure is between standard liner heights, round up.
